How is a DO different from a DC (Chiropractor) or MD?

A Do is a complete physician, trained to diagnosed and treat illness in the same fashions as an MD, but with an additional set of skills. DO’s are trained in Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT), a system of hands-on diagnosis and treatment. In many ways, this is similar to chiropractic treatment, but it is provided by a full physician and is recognized and covered by all insurance plans. Osteopathic physicians receive additional training in the musculoskeletal system, which provides them with a better understanding of the ways that injury or illness in one part of your body can affect another. By combining all available medical procedures with OMT, DO’s offer their patients the most comprehensive care available in medicine today.
